NAME Saint Croix Davies
MEANING

Saint Croix; [Croix: "cwah"] While Croix’s mother was pregnant, she and his father deducted where they had been approximately when and where he was conceived. Unfortunately for their son it was on a yacht off the coast of the Caribbean island of Saint Croix, the largest island in the Virgin Islands. The name of the island comes from the phrase "santa cruz" which means "holy cross." Croix often wishes they had waited until they were passing St. Thomas.
Davies; An alternate form of Davis, meaning “son of David.” David is a Hebrew name meaning “beloved.”

OCCUPATION Croix was expected to get a job like any other college student after losing his first one under awkward circumstances, and accidentally stumbled into a very interesting position. He started out as a file clerk and general underling at the offices for a love advice hotline, Awakening Hearts. The place was a little understaffed so often he was left to connect the lines to the other employees. While putting callers on hold, Croix eventually started to talk to them as they waited and give them his own advice on romance and all things involved. The trend continued, and when people started specifically calling in for the young male operator he was promoted. Croix works Tuesday and Thursday evenings.

SKILLS
Shameless Flirt; Croix is a smooth operator, whether or not he intends to be. He just always without fail sounds like he’s flirting even when he isn‘t doing so intentionally. This seems to pose a problem for girls who want to be "just friends" as Croix will seem to be coming onto them even when giving them advice on what to do with their boyfriend. Thankfully this feeling of "Is he hitting on me???" usually is only apparent to interested parties.

Romantic Intuition; Croix always feels the need to point out when he believes that someone is interested in someone else, and most of the time he’s spot on. He takes it upon himself to tell his friends when someone has a crush on them or is being flirted with, as well as to inform them of when he realizes they have a crush on someone else and what their chances are. When it comes to love lives, Croix is immensely intuitive and attentive. Many people wish he had the same fire for a more marketable skill than knowing who‘s sleeping with who.

Strutting Like a Peacock; While vain himself, Croix’s presence tends to make people feel self-conscious about their appearance. He has a knack for always looking perfect, no matter how rumpled his clothes are or how messy his hair is. It just always manages to look great. Being around him tends to compel people to want to check their hair and straighten out their clothes, though Croix is very much a victim to this as well and is frequently preening and fixing himself throughout the day even when he looks fine.

Cello; Like all children, Croix was briefly given music lessons to see if anything stuck. In an attempt to get some praise, he chose the first available instrument and attached himself to it, hoping that excelling would make his parents proud. After ten years of lessons, Croix is exceptionally good with the cello if only because of repetition. He can’t write music to save his life and most other instruments leave him looking quite hopeless, but he has his one success that he continues to stay involved with out of habit and maybe a little enjoyment.

♡ Personality ♡

Social Butterfly; Croix is hard to miss, mostly because he makes sure of it rather consciously. He’s very loud, friendly and vibrant, striking up conversation with whoever he pleases. Don’t ask Croix how his day was or for an explanation unless you have a few minutes to spare. He has a tendency to tell even the dullest stories in great detail and exaggerates information, making him an unreliable source of information. Thankfully he’s a smooth talker and can be fun to hang around because of a fairly silly sense of humor that projects a fun, carefree, "I don’t care if I look cool or not!" attitude. He has no need for "alone time" or "personal space" and seems to think that it’s not important to other people either, so he often ends up being rather pushy and invasive. This is largely because without other people around to validate him, Croix quickly becomes very lonely.

Town bicycle; Croix gets around. He’s very sexually active, and besides that he’s a natural flirt and very complimentary. He’s one of those people where it’s difficult if not impossible to tell when he isn’t coming onto the girls he talks to. Croix falls in love frequently, and he falls hard. He’s quick to drop the "L"-word, and at the time he says it he really does believe he means it. His affections are passionate, loving and attentive, temporarily making him the ideal boyfriend. Unfortunately, he falls out of love just as quickly. He’s constantly in and out of relationships with countless women, having dated everyone from the science majors to the cheerleaders. It comes down to the fact that Croix loves to be loved and to love, and his heart follows just about any whim.

Hopeless romantic; On a similar note, Croix is a hopeless romantic, loving to woo and romance the women he dates. But this also means he can be won over by a good love story, himself being easily wooed by star-crossed lovers, love conquering all and love at first sight. Though he wouldn’t say so, he believes shoot-em-up action movies are made that much better by a nice little romantic subplot snuck in.

Sincere... yet Shallow; While Croix isn’t prone to having very deep thoughts, he does come off as a very nice, honest type of guy. He seems very earnest and has an easy time (for a male of the species) expressing his emotions, at least when it comes to anything romantic. However, Croix lives for the present and always chooses immediate gratification when left to his own devices. He doesn’t think ahead very well.

Self-centered; Croix isn’t the sort to willfully step on others to better himself, but he has a very hard time putting himself in other peoples’ shoes and doesn’t remember to think about other people unless the problem is shoved in his face. He automatically acts with his own best interests in mind before actually thinking about it, though this can sometimes extend to include other people if he is particularly fond of them. Deep down, Croix is just far too emotionally driven to think these things over much, especially since his emotions are usually rather selfish.

Vain; Croix is very complimentary of others, but likes to have this gesture reciprocated. Despite all appearances, he doesn’t have the most stable ego and can use a good stroking every now and then. He can be easily flattered into new relationships, monetary handouts, gifts and favors that he otherwise wouldn’t really consider. At the very least he feigns being humble, denying any truth in the kind words. The pleased grin usually gives him away, though. Croix is also very image-conscious, leading to a slightly metrosexual image. He likes to look his very best and is very aware of the impression he gives people. He can often be caught checking his reflection in windows and preening.

Spoiled Brat; Although Croix puts out plenty of effort in all his endeavors, he tends to assume that as long as he works on something he will always win. This is because it’s been the case through almost the entirety of his young life. Croix grew up being told he was talented, good looking and loved. When these common perceptions don’t hold up, he can be a very sore loser. He hates losing, especially when it comes to losing the attention (romantic or otherwise) of another person. He can quickly become very competitive and ill-tempered when threatened. Croix is not as confident as the image he projects would suggest, and his ego needs constant reassurance and confirmation from the people around him.

This leads to him being very territorial, both about his loved ones as well as things that he’s supposed to be good at or the best at. He becomes easily worked up over people who are better liked than him, more attractive than him, or who make him work to keep the affections of his friends. But work for it he will, as when he labels someone a threat he easily loses his temper. While he’s a gentle soul with loved ones, he’s often harsh, sensitive about offenses and aggressive with people who encroach on his territory. He’s never shy about actively picking fights or making jabs at them and can often be incensed into full out arguments, yelling and everything. He’s certainly not above seeking revenge for perceived wrongdoings upon himself and friends either.

Problematic Problem Solver; Croix doesn’t deal with his problems very well. In fact, it may be noted that Croix doesn’t deal with his problems at all. When faced with something seriously upsetting his first reaction is to drop it immediately and leave. Girls with whom he has faced actual problems with that are often more serious than him moving on at the drop of a hat notice that he is very fast to try and back out the second things start getting serious. And it should also be pointed out that “problems” in relationships don’t always mean fights. Nothing makes Croix fall out of love faster than the notion that things aren’t going to be kept to strictly surface level. He doesn’t want to hear about your problems and he doesn’t want to share his with you.

Overly Sympathetic; Croix doesn’t have deep thoughts primarily because he doesn’t want to. Despite first impression he is not a complete ditz, he just would rather things stay in that territory. Croix doesn’t like talking about sad things, doesn’t like dealing with people in bad moods and won’t hang out around those who he considers downers. An emotional person, Croix is amazingly rather sensitive and stuff gets to him really easily. That person who always has something negative to say can ruin his whole day, as can accidentally turning on the news and catching a report of the latest tragedy. It’s not that Croix doesn’t care that you’re in a bad mood, but he justifies that he can’t make it better anyway and doesn’t want to share it with you. He can’t fight down his sympathetic streak and as much as he’d love to not have to make peoples’ problems his own, he agonizes over them.

Insular; Though Croix looks like he is the most open, trusting individual, that may be more than a little misleading. He gives love easily and earnestly, and he truthfully adores those he gets involved with, but Croix has never actually been in love or given his heart away to anyone. There’s never been any real heartbreak on his side as a result of him being dumped instead. Disappointment, maybe, but the emotional investment is never enough for pain. He always keeps his cards close to his chest and doesn’t really open up to people. His friends are only allowed access to Croix on the surface, and for that he is rather lonely but still determined to not make himself really miserable by letting people in. Croix didn’t have a painful childhood or a scarring one, but he didn’t have one that was very good for teaching him to connect to people in a way that went beyond helping him feel better about himself.

Competition-phobic; It’s true that Croix is shamelessly vain and considers himself good looking, but he doesn’t feel it comes naturally to him. He works to make sure he’s attractive, to make sure he dresses well. His physical shortcomings that he can’t fix cause him discomfort, and he spent a lot of his awkward teenaged years very upset over his freckles. Croix has always been somewhere between egotistical and under-confident, because as long as he has no competition he is more than happy to assume the role of the most beautiful, but he also feels like his “throne” needs defending, and that is something he hates. Croix loathes competing with people as it makes him feel inadequate and he quickly becomes tired, frustrated and more aggressive than is really necessary with the situation. This is especially true when it comes to competing for someone’s attention. Whether or not it was the case, Croix believes he spent his entire childhood demanding people pay attention to him and fighting for it and competing for it and paying for it, so the second it looks like a similar situation there is no longer any illusion that he’s enjoying himself. Although he hates it, he obviously takes it way too seriously. Croix longs for unconditional love, but doesn’t seem to realize that he’s never going to find it if he can’t hold onto someone for more than a month.

♡ Appearance ♡

Hair; Croix inherited his mother’s orange-red hair that he keeps cut short, though without any styling it still insists on more or less sticking up and supporting itself. It’s very thick and wild, and would probably be on the wavy side if it ever grew out past a couple inches.

Facial details; Croix has a very handsome face with sharp angles and a strong jaw. He has full, light colored lips and a decidedly crooked smile that favors his right. Bright gold eyes are framed by faint eyelashes, but lots of them. His nose is long and straight and covered in freckles. Croix seems to have a very expressive face that looks most natural while smiling. He just looks like a nice guy.

Build; Standing at 6’2”, Croix is very tall and works tirelessly on making sure that he has the muscle to back up the measurement. Far from a string bean, he sports broad shoulders and a slim waist and decent to good muscle tone all over. This doesn’t come naturally to Croix as his genes cater to being a little softer around the middle, but his vanity drives him to maintain a six-pack.

Mode of dress; Everything in Croix’s closet looks expensive. Though he’s learned to restrain himself since moving to Columbus, he still always looks like he just walked out of an Abercrombie & Fitch catalogue. Stylishly wrinkled polos, tees and jeans that look ancient but are actually brand new tend to be his favored choices, though he avoids wearing shirts with an actual label printed on them if at all possible. Regardless of what he has on, Croix dresses himself very well and makes good fashion choices whether he’s wearing faux-casual or something a little nicer. It’s obvious that he plans his wardrobe out a little bit more than the average college male.

Other details; It’s hard not to see that Croix is pretty much littered with freckles. His skin has always stayed stubbornly pale, and all the Florida sun did for him was to burn it occasionally and always leave more freckles. They’re concentrated on the bridge of his nose, cheeks, shoulders and back, but few places on him haven’t been sun kissed in such a manner.

♡ History ♡

Croix was destined for what would seem a childhood where he’d want for nothing, or at least nothing material. Andrew Davies was the heir to a line of ritzy resorts that his father before him bought out from another man. He took the failing hotels and changed them into a handful of tropical paradises that any pop star would be proud to stay at. Andrew met Jean Emerson long before he inherited, however, when she was nineteen and he was twenty one. The pair fell instantly in love and, fearing their parents would make them wait to get married, they eloped after six months of dating. The whole thing was terribly romantic, though their respective parents were indeed skeptical.

It wasn’t long before Jean was pregnant, and the young couple was absolutely ecstatic at the idea of raising their own son. They stopped jet setting long enough to settle down into a nice Miami beach house to theoretically raise their new baby boy. Saint Croix was the center of their world for the first couple months, but the young Davies were still children themselves and more often than not were totally clueless on how to deal with babies. The dirty work was left to nannies and the parents, though they doubtlessly loved her son, saw little wrong with handing him off to someone else when they needed a break, which happened a lot.

Throughout Croix’s childhood this theme continued. When he was older, his parents frequently left town or went for nightly outings that weren’t appropriate for toddlers. Croix’s parents were always a fixture in his life, but never a reliable one. When they were around they were loving and more than happy to get him whatever he wanted, but romantic getaways were more common than family vacations. Croix felt that he had to compete for his parents’ attention, as they always seemed only halfway interested in him when he was just being good. By being exceptional or being very bad, they would drop everything and run to him.

Croix very early on began a pattern of both acting out and trying to impress his parents. In school he was a headache for his teachers as he would get nothing but A’s and B’s and when he wanted to he could be amazingly charming with the teachers, yet was constantly in trouble. He fought frequently, vandalized and played pranks, occasionally mouthed off to teachers in class and showed a lot of signs of a troubled home life that were usually brushed off as him being spoiled (which was a huge part of the problem, too). Outside of school with his group of friends there were similar offenses and a few minor scrapes with the law that stopped short of actually getting arrested. Discipline didn’t discourage the behavior, but the more he tried the less his parents took him seriously. They would never blame him for his actions and would always find some excuse. Croix would angrily interpret this as his parents being willing to pay attention to anything except for him.

At the same time, Croix made up for the distance of his parents by having scores of friends at school. Charming and good looking as he progressed into high school years, his personality did win him friends and dates, but he was never shy to spend money liberally on people to impress them and win their approval. Croix was not terribly concerned about who was a real friend and who was there for a potential free meal, but was content as long as he was surrounded by people for whom he didn’t need to demand attention from or compete for. He was never without a girlfriend and indulged in a lot of the teenaged activities parents fear.

By the time Croix’s parents had matured enough and realized their son was getting out of control, there was little say they had in the matter. Croix wasn’t paying attention to what they were telling him and he remained resentful that they still would rather point the finger at something else. This time it was the environment. The Miami scene was obviously responsible for turning him into what he was, and with this conclusion in mind they contacted Croix’s uncle and Andrew’s brother, Frank. Frank lived in Ohio, a place that the Davies perceived as being calm, safe, and perfectly boring. They hoped that these things would rub off on Croix. That settled, he was to be sent to OSU for college. Croix was horrified by this banishment and though he fought it, in the end he was left with little choice and very little in the way of monetary funds.

Attending college as a hopeful marketing major, Croix seemed to be shaping up. He had calmed down and parties became less and less frequent, though he was still in and out of relationships on a ridiculously frequent basis. His parents got reports from Frank, and they figured that eventually he’d settle down with some nice pre-med girl and get married and that would be the end of his loose ways. However, it was not to be, at least not at that moment. Croix met a girl named Claire Anders when they were both eighteen. For the time, Croix was totally smitten with her and worshipped the ground she walked on. He was constantly taking her out, buying her things on what money he could access and professing his love. Eventually the pair began sleeping together, but unfortunately for Claire, this was all part of Croix’s regular pattern and he soon dumped her without any warning for another girl.

Later, Claire worked up the courage to tell Croix that she had gotten pregnant by him. Croix promptly dumped the girl he dumped Claire for to beg her to take him back. He promised to be a good father and marry her, wanting to be a parent to his child and make up for his poor relationship with his own parents. The idea was at first very exciting to him, a very idealized image of raising a baby and being a perfect parent. Before Claire could get back to him on her decision, however, the Davies stepped in. There was no way that they would allow this little hussy to ruin their son’s life, and unfortunately for Croix, Claire’s parents agreed that he needed to stay far, far away from their daughter. The families on both sides went to all lengths to make sure precautions were taken to keep the two apart, and Croix was granted visitation rights once a year.

Croix was upset deeply by this, but soon threw himself back into dating in an attempt to make himself feel better, but he continued to only remain dedicated in short bursts. He appeared to recover from the loss fairly quickly but honestly just pushed the problem away and found that not dealing with it at all was the easiest, least painful route. It was still upsetting to him to think about, but dating around and getting laid was a far more fun and socially acceptable pursuit than pining over what could have been. Periodically he’d attempt to call Claire and usually start an argument, however outside of this he remained tight lipped about the incident.

Probably an indirect result of the distress over his new parental status and the unwillingness to deal with it, Croix was frequently involved with people he shouldn’t have been involved with. Usually it was limited to girls who already had boyfriends, but things got worse at least once. While Croix was nineteen he was employed at a local all natural grocery store known as Liberty Fresh. It was owned by a friend of his aunt and uncle’s named Marian Piercey. Mary was an attractive woman of thirty who often used Croix as her assistant and showed him the ropes of running the popular business. Mary was also a well known face across Columbus, notorious for her political activism. She was outspoken, frequently on the news speaking for the people and was the founder of a decently sized group of mostly young mothers concerned for the environment.

Croix, naturally, flirted with Marian, but unlike the majority of older women he had casually pursued she took his advances seriously. Croix didn’t argue too much when the relationship turned into an affair, despite the fact that Mary was married with a young daughter. The late nights helping her after closing hours and other such rendezvous lasted around a month before they were found out.

Word was passed on to Mr. Piercey who was understandably furious, but the bigger concern was the scandal that erupted from the ordeal. Everyone wanted to know about the community’s favorite activist sleeping with a 19 year old boy, but the boy in question quietly snuck away from the association and his job at the grocer’s. Soon his parents were told as well, but they only saw it as their son being taken advantage of. Rather than wondering what on earth their son was thinking, they asked the same thing of his aunt and uncle who shouldn’t have given him a job with a woman liable to seduce Croix.

Tension arose over this issue, but Croix remained in Ohio and he salvaged what he could of his relationship with his aunt and uncle who over the past year had done plenty of yelling at him directly for the things he did. Their trouble seemed to pay off, as for the next year Croix behaved. The only people angry with him were a few ex-boyfriends and protective fathers, though he has recently received an excess of junk mail from weird fraternities.

♡ Relations

Jean Davies, mother; Still residing in Florida, Jean is a striking, red-headed woman who Croix strongly takes after in demeanor and appearance. Now calming down in her later years she’s often very worried about her son’s behavior and upset with his disregard for her and Andrew. Jean personally believes that Croix should be brought home as soon as possible so she can keep an eye on him personally. She exchanges phone calls with him twice a week.

Andrew Davies, father; Also in Florida with his wife, Andrew is an intelligent and very busy man who runs a series of high class resorts. Blonde and a bit more plump, he’s nonetheless attractive. He and his wife are rather obnoxiously in love and often attached at the hip. Like Jean, he realized too late that Croix was developing problems with their lifestyle, but hopes that Ohio will help to straighten the boy out so he can come home and inherit the family business after he graduates.

Erin Davies, aunt; Erin married into the Davies family, and while she loves her husband she finds Jean and Andres overwhelming. Angry with the obvious lack of discipline in Croix’s life, she gladly takes it upon herself to play mother. Although it’s usually her that’s getting into arguments with Croix, he respects her for it and the two get along quite well. Erin is an accountant with short, cropped blue hair.

Frank Davies, uncle; Frank seems more or less accustomed to his brother’s antics, and applies the same unwavering patience to all his endeavors. He’s the more understanding half of Croix’s not-quite-parents and tries to give him the benefit of the doubt if at all possible, but he’s not in denial about what he gets up to. Frank is a pediatrician in a private office. Frank and Erin have one daughter who has since graduated college and moved away.

Vanessa Ashton, girlfriend; Vanessa, girlfriend of one month and a nursing major from another well-off family, is the kind of girl you would expect Croix to be involved with. The gossip of her friends has made her rather paranoid about Croix’s behavior, however, and she’s often possessive, dislikes when he goes out, and suspects most females of just waiting to steal her boyfriend. Despite this, she’s a well-meaning girl who thinks she is in love, and for the time being Croix agrees. Vanessa is twenty years old, 5’8” and very pretty with long, straight magenta hair.

Claire Anders, ex-girlfriend; Since meeting Croix, Claire dropped out of college to raise the result of their fling, a little girl named Nancy. Kind of but kind of not in contact with the father, they periodically exchange phone calls where conversation is limited to their daughter. A little too straight laced for Croix, there is no longer any humoring talk of making the big happy family thing work. In fact, Claire would rather the Croix disappeared from her life entirely. She’s twenty years old and a bit of a curvier girl who only measures in at 5’6”. She has a very baby-doll face and long wavy brown hair.

Nancy Anders, daughter; Nancy, also known as Nanny Goat and Nanner Bananer, is just over a year old and currently isn’t doing much besides trashing the house and other such baby things. She doesn’t have any idea who Croix is at this stage in her life since she’s being raised by solely her mother and grandparents. Nancy has curly brown hair and, much to the chagrin of her family, inherited Croix’s tendency to freckle at any sign of sunlight.

NAME Hoplite Aphrodite
ALIGNMENT
Mythos. Best to stick with the people not trying to kill you.

ELEMENT OF INFLUENCE
Love, Beauty, Pleasure, Seduction, Procreation, Happiness
SYMBOL
A triangle with gently curved sides and a single dot in the center. One corner is pointing directly upwards. This symbol is associated with temples of Aphrodite.

CHALLENGE
Stop in the name of love! I’m Hoplite Aphrodite, and I’m going to do more than just break your heart.
BROOCH/LOCKET/PIN/DAMNED JEWELRY
A small bronze clamshell box. It’s about an inch and a half around and an half inch thick with delicate etching depicting dolphins and waves. When the small latch is pressed, the top flips open. When not being used for transformation purposes, the inside is mother-of-pearl with a large pearl embedded in the bottom.
PRIMARY/SECONDARY COLOR SCHEME Tangerine & White

UNIFORM
Look at the picture: Hoplite Aphrodite
Laurels; Aphrodite’s laurels are orange-gold in color, dry and dead like trees around fall. They are technically grape leaves, complete with a three-pronged and heart-like shape. Over them is one bone-white clamshell, underneath which all the leaves seem to originate.

Breastplate; Bright tangerine, Aphrodite’s breastplate really stands out in the midst of his mostly white outfit. It has no shoulder strap on the right, leaving that skin very bare, but the other side’s strap is obscured by the cape that connects to the left corner across his shoulder. The leather armor itself is trimmed in white and there’s leather working on it in clamshell shapes. These designs are located front and center at the bottom, and high on the right corner.

Girdle; A long, bronze chain connects from the brooch then hangs down and around Aphrodite’s hips, where on the other side it reconnects to the same place. In the front five pearls hang from it.

Cape; Aphrodite’s brooch connects his cape to the front left side of the breastplate, and the other side of the cape connects in back to the top right side of the armor, thus making only the left visible. It’s white bright enough to make Clorox jealous and reaches well past the floor. Connecting from the shell brooch to the point of contact in back are two white cords. These complete a “V” shape.

Toga; Instead of a typical toga, Aphrodite wears nothing under his breastplate. All of that cloth seems to have migrated around his waist in a huge mass that seems constantly threatening to fall down. Aphrodite is in constant fear of losing his “pants” and often fusses with it or keeps a firm hold on the garment, though it always avoids actually dropping. The same bright white as his cape, this cloth also drags on the ground.

Sandals; Typical leather Grecian sandals that are tangerine and lace criss-crossed all the way up to his knees. They’re rather nondescript, but have a tendency to be very creaky.

Arms; Both of Aphrodite’s arms are almost entirely covered in what appear to be tattoos, but closer inspection shows that they’re just skin that’s a few shades darker than the rest of him. The designs are reminiscent of Greek pottery with pictures of shells, waves, flowers, birds and dolphins. On the right side they start below the bicep, and on the left at the armpit. These locations mimic where the Venus de Milo lost her arms.

TRANSFORMATION Croix opens his little compact and mist starts to pour out of it, quickly forming two halves of a huge clamshell on either side of him. The shell snaps shut and the fog bursts outward with the imagined force of the shutting. When it thins, Hoplite Aphrodite is fully dressed with his weapon in hand. He has a tendency not to pose if he doesn’t have anyone he wants to impress and instead stands there rather lamely.

SIGNATURE ATTACK
Euphoria;
Aphrodite points at a single target as he announces his attack and a jet of sea foam speeds down his arm and towards the target, hitting them in a puff of mist and spray. It is dodgeable, but the jet is very fast. If the target is missed, it just splashes to the ground harmlessly, but if it’s a success the victim will be knocked off their feet. The fall isn’t a big deal, but rather the side effects of touching the foam (likewise, contact with the stuff on the ground could lead to a buzz).

This attack makes the target suddenly realize how beautiful their surroundings are, only multiplied to an overwhelming degree. The target feels deliriously happy and is aware of every touch, smell, sound taste and sight, but times fifty. This causes a sensory overload and all but the hardiest victim will find it impossible to concentrate on anything, instead only wanting to revel in the amazing beauty of the world. They are also filled with loving, happy feelings, and hysterical laughter and hugging are not uncommon at all. The fight at hand is rarely of any more importance.

It’s intense and crippling for about a minute and a half, and after that it slowly fades away though they may still experience a bit of a giggly high for the next hour. Hoplite Aphrodite can use this three times in about twelve hours.

SPECIAL SKILLS/TRAITS
I feel pretty; Although Croix is attractive, when transformed Aphrodite looks spectacularly, unbelievably gorgeous. He oozes sex appeal and seems limitlessly perfect to the point where it’s a bit unsettling. This is a magically enhanced look that doesn’t actually change his appearance so much as how people perceive him, including himself. The one physical aspect that it does change is that Aphrodite’s uniform appears nearly indestructible. Sort of. It can be cut and torn and pierced, but it just doesn’t get dirty. He’s always blindingly white and orange, his hair remains perfect, and with a few brushes at any unpleasant mud spots or blood stains and the damage to the material just seems to fall right off and holes suddenly seem smaller. In fact, was there ever a rip there at all? Unfortunately, this doesn’t prevent cuts and bruises, it just makes them look cleaner.

Seafoam train; As one may have noticed, Aphrodite has a huge excess of cloth dragging around his feet, yet he never trips. This is made possible by his skirts and cape dissolving into white sea foam when they reach the ground, collecting at his feet and flowing in a large circle around him as he moves. The shape and size constantly shifts like ocean surf, and the movements suggest small waves falling down from his train across the floor and away from him. They always part from where he walks and leave a wet trail behind him. When he runs the “waves” crash more forcefully and fly up like sea spray, making a very pretty, if hard to miss, display.

You remind me of a girl; Hoplite Aphrodite tends to remind people of the object of their affections. Regardless of gender, opponents and allies alike often find it a little too easy for them to think that Aphrodite looks like, sounds like, acts like, smells like, etc. a totally different person… namely the one they are currently romantically interested in. It’s an illusion of similarities that the people effected think they see, though Aphrodite doesn’t actually change and may be nothing at all like the captain of the football team that his teammate has a crush on.

People who know what’s going on or who are a little more on top of things could identify it and brush off the creepy feeling, but those susceptible or caught off guard could find it a little overwhelming. The more one is in love (or lust), the stronger the feelings are. He does this unconsciously, and though he can make the feelings of déjà vu and affection stronger if he thinks about it, there is no "off" switch. The idea is that he’s a walking, talking distraction.

When Aphrodite actively concentrates on it, it builds up slowly. It starts with the comparisons, thinking he acts an awful lot like someone, looks like them, and so forth just intensifying. But eventually it begins to escalate past a weird feeling to, if no one notices and interrupts it, the victim eventually believing that Aphrodite is their loved one. It takes longer with people who are skeptical or who might otherwise be opposed to thinking Aphrodite is their type at all (namely people who aren’t interested in men). However, once Aphrodite has a hold on them it’s very difficult for the victim to break free on their own. The easiest way to snap them out of it is a good slap.

WEAPON
Aphrodite wields a mace that’s just a little taller than his hip if the handle is resting on the ground. It appears to be solidly gold fading into mother of pearl in some decorative points with a smooth, plain shaft leading up to a very nasty looking end. It’s shaped like a Chiragra shell with a thick body and long, fingerlike projections. Aphrodite’s weapon version is a little exaggerated and the spines are pointed as well as sharpened like knives to make it a proper weapon. Although Croix has hardly been trained in the use of spiky shells on sticks, while transformed he is amazingly well versed. However, this is only when he stops thinking about it and just moves. When he worries and tries too hard, his attacks are clumsy and incompetent, showing his total lack of training. When he reacts of out instinct, though, one might think he’s been using it forever.
